Emerald House
Emerald House
EMERALD HOUSE has a garden with a patio area, garden shed and comfortable seating for our young people. Visitors are welcome at all reasonable times during the day or evening, but not when a young person should be in education, and not after the home has settled in the evening (usually 9 pm).
Specific areas/rooms within EMERALD HOUSE are kept locked on occasion; this is to ensure confidentiality and the safe keeping of medication and money. These areas include the staff office, cupboards with medication and areas used for the storage of personal documents. Rooms may also at times need to be locked when a young person is in crisis, to keep themselves and others safe.
Each child and young person will have their own bedroom and may be given a key for their room subject to their risk assessment. After a period of settling the young people will be given the choice of decor for their room (it may not be possible to change flooring). The bedrooms will include a bed and mattress, bedside table, chest of draws, desk, curtains/blinds and a wardrobe; and if needed more storage and décor can be purchased. Young people will be encouraged to individualise their rooms. All young people may be provided with televisions in their bedrooms, subject to agreement with other professionals. This will be regularly reviewed.
The rules regarding use of electronics is detailed in the children’s guide.

The property has 3 bedrooms (2 for the young people and 1 staff room), 1 bathrooms and additionally, there is a garden with a patio area and a projector for movie nights.
