Diamond House

Welcome to Diamond Children’s Home. Diamond House is a specially designed home for young people with EBD, SEMH, autism (ASC), mental health needs, anxiety and other associated conditions. We use a secure and therapeutic model to reduce inappropriate hospital admissions by providing a nurturing children’s home environment. The innovative approach focuses on core residential support workers, a psychotherapist, a mental health & learning disabilities nurse (if required) and a secure base model of treatment.

Diamond House prioritise the needs of children above all else in our operations. We offer psychotherapy onsite (if required) aiming to create a therapeutic and nurturing environment for young people to heal and recover. We recognise the challenges young people face when navigating multiple placements and adjusting to new peer groups. Therefore, we take the matching process during admission process very seriously and involve all our young people. Our transition protocol may include multiple visits and overnight stays to ensure a smooth transitions.

However, we also do consider emergency placements to safeguard the most vulnerable young people, and to ensure they have a safe place to stay.

Our Registration

Diamond House is registered to accommodate up to three young people aged 5 to 18 years old, regardless of their gender. We primarily accept young people who are experiencing a decline in their mental health and require assessment of their ongoing needs, therapeutic intervention, or support for emotional dysregulation EBD (e.g. ADHD).
We also specialise in helping young people who are transitioning from psychiatric care or who require additional support beyond what is available in the community.

Our short-term goals are:

  • To prevent hospital admissions whenever possible
  • To work closely with the local authorities (LA), CAMHS/learning disability (LD) services- as the young people in our care are typically already involved with these services and may also be under Deprivation of Liberty (DoLS).
  • To gain the young person’s trust – making them realise that they mater and are safe.
  • To help the young person manage their feelings and behaviour.
  • To build the young person’s self-esteem – so they understand they are valued for who they are.
  • To help the young person to feel involved– enabling them to negotiate and contribute towards their care plan.
  • To help the young person to feel comfortable living at home.

Whilst still maintaining our short-term goals, our long-term goals for the children are:

  • Family re-unification
  • Moving to Foster Care
  • Kinship Care
  • Move into (semi) independent living with the necessary life-skills

We will work with each child in a unique way, ensuring their own individual needs are met. We acknowledge that each young person’s individual circumstances are different, and so our short term goals may take some time to achieve depending. However, the home will endeavour to achieve the most positive outcomes for all cases.
